What is Stefon Diggs’ Fantasy Value?

New England Patriots WR Stefon Diggs made headlines earlier this week as a video surfaced of him appearing to flash what is believed to be a pink substance on a yacht party in Miami with current celebrity girlfriend Cardi B.

Diggs signed a three-year $69 million contract with the New England Patriots this offseason to help bolster a wide receiver room that finished last in the league in overall production in 2024.

Diggs has largely been away from formal team activities in New England this offseason, as he is recovering from an ACL tear he experienced in Week 8 of the 2024 season. But, his absence from this week’s voluntary OTAs seems directly stemmed to his recent off-the-field drama.

Diggs’ injury already complicated his fantasy value, but with this potential off-the-field issue, it becomes even murkier. New head coach Mike Vrabel is known for his no-nonsense approach, so Diggs could wind up in Vrabel’s doghouse before he even gets a chance to get back onto the field.

”It’s something we’re aware of and obviously we want to make great decisions on and off the field,” Vrabel told reporters Thursday. “… Any conversations that I’ve had with Stefon will remain between him and I and the club.”

When healthy, Diggs is a highly productive receiver – perhaps one of the best in the NFL. Before last season, he had six straight seasons of 1,000+ yards receiving and was on pace for yet another before his injury in 2024.  He looked every part of a WR1 in the Houston Texans offense before injury. Through Week 8, he was WR10 overall in fantasy and racked up 496 yards on 47 receptions and 3 TDs.

While many expect Diggs to take a step back in 2025 (he turns 32 in November), his proven statistical output, coupled with a hefty paycheck ($26 million guaranteed), could prove otherwise.

If you take injury and his most recent spotlight out of the equation, Diggs projects to be the number one option in New England with a budding young QB in Drake Maye. Given his only other competition for targets are unproven receivers like Kendrick Bourne, Demario Douglas, and Kyle Williams, Diggs has a rock-solid WR3 floor with very realistic WR2 upside.

With recent reports suggesting Diggs may not be ready to return to the field until Week 4 of the 2025 season, his ADP and fantasy outlook have taken a considerable hit. Personally, I would like to capitalize on that value. I believe when Diggs is healthy and this off-the-field distraction is in the past, he will easily outperform his current ADP of 89th overall (WR45) — even with his stock continuing to plummet.

While it’s early in the off-season, I would take advantage of Digg’s low ADP in best ball drafts and certainly keep an eye on his ADP throughout the summer as re-drafts approach. The Patriots haven’t had a 1,000-yard receiver since Julian Edelman in 2019. They signed Diggs to fix that problem.
