Bymaggedon 2.0 is here for Week 9, with the Philadelphia Eagles, Cleveland Browns, New York Jets, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers off this week. Potentially Tank Bigsby (Eagles) and Dylan Sampson (Browns) could be handcuffs to stash since they are on bye. However, Saquon Barkley and Quinshon Judkins, despite suffering injuries, will likely return, but monitor this for next week.
Both Bigsby and Sampson would be the top handcuffs on waivers for Week 10, if available.
In fantasy football, smart managers don’t just chase starters; they stash the backups who could become league-winners overnight. Here’s your Week 9 handcuff RB rankings, spotlighting the most valuable insurance policies and upside plays.
Stash-Worthy Handcuffs
With the Cam Skattebo injury, Tyrone Tracy Jr. will take over; however, Devin Singletary will likely get increased volume for the New York Giants. This is especially on inside runs and runs near the goalline, as he would be a pure handcuff and not a flex option.
Chase Brown’s backup, Samaje Perine, showed out and could be more involved as an inside runner moving forward. The veteran power back had a breakout run for the Cincinnati Bengals and is worth a stash, and potentially even a flex play.
Samaje Perine – Team: Cincinnati Bengals
Devin Singletary – Team: New York Giants
Injury Watch
If Hassan Haskins is ruled out again due to a hamstring, Kimani Vidal will look to get the full workload, as he is coming off a breakout performance on Thursday Night. Monitor this situation, as Vidal could be a must-start this week, regardless of the Los Angeles Chargers’ performance.
Handcuff: Hassan Haskins
Injury Status: Questionable (Hamstring)
Starter: Kimani Vidal
Top 10 Pure Handcuff Rankings for Week 9
The Tennessee Titans, Minnesota Vikings, Carolina Panthers, Denver Broncos, New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers, Detroit Lions, Seattle Seahawks, and Houston Texans are now essentially split backfields.
I only included running backs who are in defined backup roles to a known starter, so backs in ambiguous split or trio backfields I didn’t include for this list. Also, players like the backfield trio are essentially seeing enough time as part-time starters themselves and have RB 2/3 or, at worst, flex appeal as a starter, so they are not in this list either. This is in no specific order.
