This week is littered with several good Defensive Streamers as we enter the final two weeks of the fantasy season.
Last week’s group of steamers let us down.
Detroit didn’t realize they still had to play pass defense against the NY Giants’ gunslinger Jameis Winston, who had 10 passes for 20 yards or more, in the Lions’ OT win.
Then Dallas forgot to play defense in the first half in its come-from-behind win against NFC East Division rival Philadelphia.
At least Atlanta came through with what they do best – sack the quarterback.
Let’s get into this week’s top streamers!
Defensive Streamers
Atlanta at NY Jets
The Falcons bring a four-game streak of five or more sacks into MetLife Stadium.
The sacks are a team effort as Brandon Dorlus leads the team with 6.0 sacks. And there are 6 players with at least 3.0 sacks on the Atlanta defensive unit.
And they finally held an opponent to less than 20 points for the first time since their Week 6 upset win against Buffalo.
Tyrod Taylor is expected to start again for the Jets and he’s not as mobile when he was younger.
Seattle home against Minnesota
The Seahawks may get the benefit of seeing undrafted rookie Max Brosmer at QB for Minnesota as J.J. McCarthy is in concussion protocol.
But either way, the matchup should be a good one for the Seahawks.
And it’s a home game for the Seahawks, where they are averaging 10.2 fantasy points in home contest.
Even if McCarthy starts, the Vikings offense is a bottom-five offense, ranking 29th with 282.6 yards a game.
Plus, the Seahawks’ secondary has clamped down on the offenses in their last three games, giving up only 189.3 yards passing a game in those three matchups.
Jacksonville at Tennessee
Now it’s the Jaguars turn to get after rookie quarterback Cam Ward.
Ward has been running for his life this season when he drops back to pass as the Titans are giving up 4.1 sacks a game and the offensive line is ranked 26th in the NFL, according to Pro Football Network’s offensive line rankings.
The Jaguars sacked Jacoby Brissett six times last week in their OT win against Arizona. And they have averaged 3.3 sacks a game in their last four games.
Plus, the Jaguars are improving in their secondary as they have given up 215.3 yards passing in their last three games. They are giving up 240.0 yards passing for the season.
New England home against NY Giants
This one will be an interesting matchup to see on Monday Night as both teams feature young, up-and-coming QBs.
Drake Maye has led the Patriots to the current No. 1 seed in the AFC playoffs, while Jaxson Dart hasn’t had any setbacks for the Giants after missing two games with a concussion.
This is where the Patriots have the upper hand, as the Giants coaching staff would like to see Dart modify his running style after the concussion.
If Dart plays, his aggressive running style may be muted, forcing him to be indecisive in the passing game.
Plus, there is a chance Winston will get another starting nod if Dart can’t go. Winston, for his career, has averaged an interception on 3.5 percent of his passes.
