3 Rookies Who Gained Fantasy Football Value Post-NFL Draft

The annual fantasy football draft season is officially upon us, and this year presents a unique puzzle for managers everywhere. While analysts have labeled this particular rookie class as relatively weak in terms of overall depth, the landscape of opportunity shifted dramatically the moment the NFL draft concluded. In fantasy football, value is rarely found in the consensus; instead, it is discovered in the intersection of talent and opportunity.

Despite the skepticism surrounding this year’s incoming talent, a select group of players saw their stock skyrocket overnight due to favorable landing spots and clear paths to playing time. These diamonds in the rough are now positioned to outperform their initial projections, offering savvy managers a chance to gain a competitive edge. Let’s dive into which rookies have emerged as the true winners of the draft and how you can capitalize on their newfound potential.

Skyler Bell- WR Buffalo Bills

Bell probably moves up a full round in my post-draft fantasy football rankings. While most Bills fans were clamoring for an early WR draft choice, GM Brandon Beane chose to use most of his picks to address the change in defense philosophy, brought in by new Defensive Coordinator Jim Leonhard. Beane also used a 2nd round pick earlier in the offseason to acquire Bears standout WR, D.J. Moore, in a trade.

But when Bell fell to them in the 4th round at pick 125, Beane could not pass at the value. Bell was one of the most productive wide receivers in all of FBS last year, ranking in the top 3 in catches, yards, and touchdowns. He had one of the highest RAS scores in the class, at 9.71, which Beane places great importance on. His style is similar to that of current Bill, Khalil Shakir, and he is very good after the catch.

After Keon Coleman had disciplinary issues last year, and Josh Palmer busted as a free agent acquisition, the path will be clear for immediate targets if Bell can pick up the NFL game quickly. Pre-Draft Ranking: WR 15. Post Draft Ranking: WR 9

Max Klare- TE Los Angeles Rams

This is the point where I need to mention the article’s title. This is about the guy who gained the most value across fantasy circles, not guys I necessarily will be targeting. Klare will be one I am fading, especially at this value. I am in a bunch of TE premium, must start 2 TE leagues, and this guy is going early in the first round.

I cannot get on board with that, given a team that has shown no consistency in their TE options over the past few years. They drafted a Max Klare clone in Terrance Ferguson just a year ago. Tyler Higbee and Colby Parkinson both remain on the roster. Klare may prove to be a good dynasty asset in a year or two, but he has moved into a range too high for my liking, even in a pretty bad draft class.

De’Zhaun Stribling- WR San Francisco 49ers

I can still hear the collective gasps from the football world when the 49ers took Stribling with the first pick of the 2nd round in the NFL draft. “Who”? Exactly. Stribling, projected as a late-round pick, was not even mentioned in most rookie mock drafts leading up to the draft. Obviously, with the high draft capital, his value rises, but the question is, just how much?

My first few rookie drafts still have him outside the top 2 rounds, behind later-round picks Malachi Fields and Elijah Sarratt. A highly drafted WR in a Kyle Shanahan offense should not be ignored. For me, he settles into the rookie WR 12 spot, just below Atlanta Falcons’ Zachariah Branch and just above the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Germie Bernard.
