Week 9 Waiver Wire Stashes: A couple of TEs to add before the big bye weeks

Week 9 Waiver Wire Stashes

We are at the halfway point of the regular season but we are in the stretch run for the fantasy season, and there are still several waiver wire stashes available.

I touted Dallas’ Ryan Flournoy last week and it appears he may be moving into the No. 2 wide receiver role for the Cowboys. Flournoy has out snapped George Pickens the last two weeks.

Now these plays are not necessarily must-have pick-ups in leagues with smaller rosters, but they can make a difference with 12 teams on bye the next three weeks.

Let’s get into the Week 9 stashes!

Waiver Wire Stashes

Darnell Washington, Pittsburgh (3 percent on Yahoo!, 6 percent on Sleeper)

As a Pittsburgh Steelers fan, I know Pat Freiermuth is still the No. 1 tight end on the depth chart, but it’s Darnell Washington who makes the crucial plays when they are needed.

Just like his toe-tapped touchdown in Paris against the New Orleans Saints or his rumbling and bumbling 58-yard catch and run in the win against the Cleveland Browns.

Washington and Freiermuth had been in a time share led by Freiermuth in snaps, but Washington surpassed him for the first time last week.

The Steelers have their bye this week and now may be the time to sneak Washington onto your roster before we see him running over defensive backs in Week 10.

Gunnar Helm, Tennessee (1 percent on Yahoo!, 5 percent on Sleeper)

Gunnar Helm has been a key part of the Tennessee Titans offense this season, but the last two games he is finally being utilized in the passing game.

And surprisingly, he played his lowest snaps count last week when he had his best game. He only played 64 percent of the snaps and finished with 5 catches on 9 targets for 76 yards.

The Titans join the Steelers with their bye this week, but 10 teams will be on a bye during Week 10 (4 teams) and Week 11 (6 teams).

Anthony Richardson Sr., Indianapolis (0.1 percent on Yahoo!, 2 percent on Sleeper)

This has more to do with Coach Shane Steichen pledging a top-to-bottom evaluation ahead of the Colts’ Week 9 home matchup against Dallas.

There is a possibility that Anthony Richardson Sr. starts vs. the Cowboys as current starting QB Daniel Jones has struggled this season.

Jones has only thrown for 1,542 yards and 5 TDs and has tossed 9 interceptions.

Richardson has had his issues when we was the starting two seasons ago, but the Colts are just looking for answers to their lost season.

Treylon Burks, Washington (2 percent on Yahoo!, 7 percent on Sleeper)

Everyone is in love with Washington rookie WR Antonio Williams as the receiver to pick up on early waiver wires.

However, Treylon Burks may have more upside with his downfield, big-play ability.

He has played at least 55 percent or more of the snaps in the last four games and has 10 catches for 220 yards (55 yards a game) and 1 TD during the four-game stretch.

He’s averaging 19.4 yards a catch this season, giving QB Jaylen Daniels the big play ability loss with Terry McLaurin’s injury.
