NFL Week 3 Hot Takes

Puka Nacua & Davante Adams Expose the Eagles Defense

The Philadelphia Eagles once again look like the team to beat in the NFL, but in week one, their defense looked shaky. In week two, they held the Kansas City Chiefs to 17 points, but for the majority of the game, it was only 10. So with a week one shakiness and then a correction against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, it should be fine, right? I am not so sure about that.

The Chiefs appear to struggle offensively, potentially limiting their ability to score a high number of points, given the aging and less talented offensive weapons on the team, which may not be as impressive as initially thought. The Los Angeles Rams’ offense looks much more formidable than their opponent. Matthew Stafford is aging, but he exploded in the second half through the air to his favorite targets, Puka Nacua and Davante Adams.

Adoree Jackson has looked really tough in Week One, giving up over 100 yards to CeeDee Lamb. This is not a major infraction due to the ability of Lamb, but Nacua and Adams are a very similar caliber of receiver, and there are two of them. He had a better week two, but was in coverage during the long touchdown to Tyquan Thornton at the end of the game. The safeties for the Eagles have also been shaky to start the year.

Of course, the Eagles also have second-year players Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean, who have played excellently through their first year and some change. There is a possibility for Nacua and Adams to be locked up by those two, but I would bet on Nacua and Adams’ ability before I would bet on the Eagles’ secondary against the Rams in Week 2.

Jaguars Offense Buries the Texans in 2025

The Texans have gotten off to a 0-2 start in 2025, while putting up lackluster offensive numbers to start the year. C.J. Stroud has looked unrosterable from a fantasy standpoint. Averaging under 12 fantasy points per game. The elements of the Texans’ offense were meant to help hurt, too. Nico Collins has even been worse, and he was a first-round pick this draft season. Having 5 and 14 points with no signs of hope coming out of Monday Night Football.

Meanwhile, the Jaguars under Liam Coen have looked similar to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last season, Liam Coen’s former team. Their defense has looked less than stellar, but the offense has been terrific. They have put up 26 and 27 points each week. Now, they have room to grow and have not played good defenses, in the Cincinnati Bengals and Carolina Panthers, but the elements are there to be successful.

Travis Etienne Jr. is having a resurgent season after a lost year last season. He has averaged over 100 yards through his first two games and a touchdown, with some of that lost receiving work from a year ago. I think he’s a full go in fantasy this year with a serviceable backup in Bhayshal Tuten to complement Etienne’s skillset.

Brian Thomas Jr. is one of the most talked-about players through two weeks in the NFL this year, and it is just a matter of time before his production goes up. He is a quintessential buy-low target this fantasy season. Along with Travis Hunter

The Elephant in the room with the Jaguars is what we’re going to get out of Trevor Lawrence week-to-week. It is a frustrating dance with him, but I trust Liam Coen to get it done. He did it with Baker Mayfield each of the past two seasons. Why can’t he do it again?

The Texans’ defense is very good, which could take down this potent Jags offense, but I do not see the Texans being able to keep up with their lackluster offense to this point. Their run game has failed them to this point with an aging Nick Chubb, and I do not see it getting any better. I see the Texans’ playoff chances getting buried in Week 3.

Giants ALMOST Beat the Chiefs

Now this may be my hottest take yet. The Chiefs are down right now, and so are the New York Football Giants. After scoring a measly 3 points against the Commanders in week one, they were a part of a 40+ point 4th quarter showdown with the Dallas Cowboys in week two. Which Russell Wilson are we going to get? I tend to lean somewhere in the middle because the Chiefs’ defense is still very good.

I am not panicking about the Chiefs’ playoff hopes, but they do seem out of Rhythm, and the Giants have the ability with their defensive line to disrupt and keep quarterbacks out of Rhythm. I have not seen it yet for a full game, which makes me think that they will not beat the Chiefs (along with a host of other reasons), but the ability in Abdul Carter, Kayvon Thibodeaux, Brian Burns, and Dexter Lawrence is there to pressure Mahomes and the struggling Offensive line. This is not an easy matchup for the Chiefs.

Ultimately, I will be shocked if the Giants beat the Chiefs on Sunday, but I do believe that this is the combination to do it. A streaky quarterback and a good defensive line could shock the world this Sunday. And it will be fun to watch as the year approaches, and 0-3’s hit the record books, we will see what both squads are made out of. The Chiefs will have their work cut out for them offensively. I am excited to watch this matchup.
