NFL Week Two was very exciting with a lot of points from a lot of different matchups. A lot of points means a lot of players scoring. This week’s slate looks a lot less enticing and should have less production than in week two.
Isiah Pacheco
Isiah Pacheco could be one of those guys that we talk about as a one-year guy. It is disappointing because in his second season, the first week of the year, he was featured and fantastic. Since he returned last season, through the early part of this year, it has been all bad. He is still ranked as an RB3 Rest of the season, and I doubt he will finish that way.
The Chiefs have a tough matchup against this week in the New York Giants. The Giants’ defense has not been great through two weeks, but it has been tough in the run game. With Pacheco struggling and a good defensive line from the Giants, I anticipate this being a struggle for him. I am pretty confident he will not burn you in week 3. (9/10)
Jerry Jeudy
Jerry Jeudy is most likely still the Cleveland Browns‘ #1 Wide Receiver, but has lacked production in the first two weeks of the season. He has had consistent production with a solid opportunity share (16 targets through two weeks), but ultimately has not been what we may have hoped for after his run with Jameis Winston last season. Smokin’ Joe Flacco can still air it out like Jameis, but doesn’t find Jeudy to be as attractive a target as Winston.
The Browns are going up against the Green Bay Packers this week, who, through two weeks, look like the best team in the NFL. I do not anticipate things to change in week three against the lowly Browns. Their secondary has been great, and it looks like Keisean Nixon will be lining up opposite Jeudy. For this reason, I think that Jerry Jeudy is a sit this week. (7/10)
Marquise Brown
Marquise Brown was the week one highlight of the waiver wire. After Xavier Worthy went down, Brown was peppered with targets by Patrick Mahomes. While I do not think that Brown was ever that exciting in fantasy, you cannot trust him after a five-target game. I do not think he is the man in the red zone for Mahomes, and ultimately, that is where his upside lies. His snap share also dived last week, causing even more concern considering the Chiefs were down. They will most likely win this week against the Giants, which hurts their opportunity for a positive game script as well. I would wait another week on the week one waiver wire darling if I can, before adding him to my starting lineup.
Chris Olave
Chris Olave has been a tough player to play against recently. It’s his second time on the must-sit list for me this year already. This week, he goes into a matchup against the Seattle Seahawks‘ secondary. A once vaunted secondary looks to be reclaiming some of that ability.
Olave has competition with Rashid Shaheed and Juwan Johnson. He used to be able to out-gain both of those guys without a second thought, but with Spencer Rattler against a good defense, I do not trust Olave this week. His targets have been out of this world-with 23 through two weeks, but ultimately, I just cannot trust this player. With opportunity comes great responsibility, but ultimately, I would rather start other players if I can. 6/10)
Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo is probably the future of this New York Giants backfield. He has the pedigree to do so. All things considered, he would be taking over for a guy who was a receiver in college. I do think that Skattebo will take over at some point. Tyrone Tracy Jr. is still getting opportunities and will see the bulk of the receiving work, at least in the short term. The Chiefs still do have a good defense, and if they put a complete game together and blow the Giants out, Skattebo will be completely game-scripted out of the game. Skattebo is still an exciting buy, but I would keep him on the bench in week three.
