Waiver Wire Stashes: Monangai powers into backfield role for Bears heading into Week 8

Waiver Wire Stashes Week 8

It’s make or break time for fantasy managers as Week 8 brings six teams on byes. And this week’s Waiver Wire Stashes may more than likely be plays with the byes and injuries to key players.

Arizona, Detroit, Jacksonville, LA Rams, Las Vegas and Seattle will each have their byes and along with their top fantasy players getting some much needed rest.

But the players I have on my list this week will be playing this weekend.

Let’s get into the Week 8 players’ list!

Waiver Wire Stashes

Kyle Monangai, Chicago (7 percent Yahoo!, 4 percent ESPN, 79 percent Sleeper)

Monangai earned the No. 2 spot in the Bears backfield out of preseason as Roschon Johnson was limited by an injury.

And Monangai hasn’t looked back and he continues to cut into starter D’Andre Swift’s playing time.

This week Monangai played 45 percent of the snaps and had his strongest offensive performance of the season. He scored his first TD and added 81 yards rushing and 2 catches for 13 yards.

Monangai has become part of the Bears’ 1-2 punch in their running game in the last two games.

Chimere Dike, Tennessee (2 percent Yahoo!, 1 percent ESPN, 47 percent Sleeper)

With Calvin Ridley missing Sunday’s game, Dike became the Titans No. 3 option in the passing game behind Elic Ayomanor and Van Jefferson.

And Dike performed well with his four targets as the fourth-round draft pick hauled in all four for 70 yards and a touchdown.

He has played 56 and 57 percent of the snaps in the last two weeks and will continue to play a role as long as Ridley is sidelined.

Xavier Legette, Carolina (6 percent Yahoo!, 24 percent ESPN, 14 percent Sleeper)

Legette has been boom or bust during his two years in the NFL.

The 2024 first-round draft pick had a career day during the Panthers’ Week 7 road victory against New York Jets.

He finished with 9 catches on 11 targets for 92 yards and a touchdown.

Legette finally turned his high snap count into production. He’s second on the team in snaps among wide receivers and has played 73 percent or more snaps in all 5 of his games this season.

Alec Pierce, Indianapolis (9 percent Yahoo!, 3 percent ESPN, 13 percent Sleeper)

Pierce continues to play the second most snaps among Indianapolis’ wide receivers, but he also continues to be ignored.

He has played 79 percent of snaps in 4 of the 5 games he’s played, but his target share is fourth on the team, behind Michael Pittman Jr., Tyler Warren and Josh Downs.

Pierce was finally targeted in the Colts’ road win against Los Angeles Chargers. He saw 10 targets and hauled in 5 of them for 98 yards.

The fifth-year WR has always been a downfield target as he’s averaged no less than 14.5 yards a catch in a season. Pierce has 333 air yards during the last two weeks.

If he continues to see the targets, big games may finally be on his way.
