Using defensive streamers can be a struggle through the fantasy football season!
Last week I suggested Kansas City, Carolina and the New York Giants, and all three didn’t hurt you having them in your lineups. But none of them put a nice big number to help carry you to a fantasy victory.
This week I’m choosing a defense possibly facing a rookie starting quarterback and two divisional rival matchups.
Let’s get into this week’s top streamers!
Week 4 Streamers
Green Bay (at Tampa Bay, 42 percent rostered on Sleeper)
The Green Bay Packers may catch a break this week as Tampa Bay starting QB Baker Mayfield has been ruled out for the Week 4 matchup with a dislocated thumb.
Rookie Jalon Daniels is expected to start, and history hasn’t been kind on rookie quarterbacks.
Historically, rookies making their first starts in the NFL only win about 40 percent of the time. Plus, the Buccaneers offense has only averaged 185 passing yards (26th) a game this season. Overall, Tampa Bay has only averaged 279.3 yards a game this season, ranking 27th overall.
The Packers are 3.5-point road favorite.
Buffalo (home against New England, 12 percent rostered on Sleeper)
I guess you could say the Buffalo Bills finally get a break.
The Patriots come to Buffalo to renew their AFC East Division rivalry, but these two teams were spiraling in different directions.
The Bills are undefeated, while the Patriots have only one win and looked bad last week vs. Jacksonville.
New England slow start can be attributed to QB Drake Maye’s play.
The third-year QB has thrown 6 interceptions and lost a fumble. Plus, he is without his WR1 A.J. Brown, who is on IR with a high ankle sprain.
Buffalo has recorded 9 sacks through three games, led by edge rusher Greg Rousseau’s 6.0 sacks.
The Bills are a 7-point favorite.
Las Vegas (home against Kansas City, 11 percent rostered on Sleeper)
This has become the unexpected battle of 3-0 teams.
The Chiefs were expected to be near the top of the AFC West Division standings – now with the Raiders, that’s another story.
But that story begins with the Las Vegas smothering defense.
The Raiders have recovered 5 fumbles and added 4 interceptions leading to their magical start.
And it has been their front four that has led the charge. Their front four, led defensive end Maxx Crosby, has helped the Raiders to record 10 sacks to go along with all the turnovers without using heavy blitz packages. New defensive coordinator Rob Leonard has incorporated a defense powered by its front four.
The unit is more than Crosby as multiple players have recorded at least one sack.
And even though the matchup doesn’t scream a must start for the Raiders but their formula this year has been pressure, hurried throws, sacks and turnovers. Kansas City’s Patrick Mahomes has been less than mobile than years past, which plays into the Raiders’ hands. Mahomes has only averaged only 13.7 yards rushing, his lowest output a game since 2019.
The Chiefs are 4.5-point favorite.
