Now that everyone is done chasing Denver’s Jonah Coleman on the waiver wire, I have some stashes you can grab cheap for spot start or just a wait-and-see piece on your bench.
As for the likes of Coleman, he took advantage of R.J. Harvey missing the Denver Broncos’ Week 2 home win against the Jacksonville Jaguars to put him at the top of most leagues’ waiver wire pick-ups.
Coleman finished with 14.8 fantasy points as starter J.K. Dobbins had a hamstring issue during the win on Sunday as well.
Let’s get into this week’s Stashes
Waiver Wire Stashes
Germie Bernard, Pittsburgh (1 percent on Yahoo!, 91 percent on Sleeper)
I expected Germie Bernard’s rostered numbers on Sleeper to be high since Sleeper caters to a lot of dynasty leagues, but he is still widely available in most leagues on Yahoo!
And it was nice to see the rookie to have some rapport with quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers will need a third option behind wide receiver DK Metcalf and tight Pat Freiermuth until WR Michael Pittman Jr. returns from a foot injury.
Bernard logged a 79 percent snap share and saw 8 targets for 4 catches and 35 yard in the Steelers’ road loss to the New England Patriots.
Xavier Hutchinson, Houston (5 percent on Yahoo!, 55 percent on Sleeper)
Xavier Hutchinson should be more of a priority waiver wire pick than a stash with Nico Collins dealing with a hamstring injury.
The second-year WR led the Texans in targets with 9 and snap count at 81 percent.
Now we just need him to build on his catch percentage as he only hauled in 3 catches for 37 yards in the Texans’ home loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.
But even if Collins make a quick recovery, Hutchinson should be highly involved in the passing game. He played 56 percent (second behind Collins) of the snaps in the first game of the season.
Malik Washington, Miami (14 percent on Yahoo!, 34 percent on Sleeper)
A lot of the hype of the Miami Dolphins passing game has surrounded rookie WRs Caleb Douglas and Chris Bell, but Malik Washington is still WR1 in that Dolphins’ weak offense.
Washington leads the team with 13 targets and has played 73 percent or more of the snaps in the first two games. He has 7 catches for 96 yards receiving.
And the Miami passing game will continue to be focal point, playing in comeback mode for most of the season. The Dolphins have been held to 13 points in both of their losses.
Dyami Brown, Washington (0.1 percent on Yahoo!, 0.1 percent on Sleeper)
With QB Jayden Daniels expected to miss time with his dislocated elbow and a running game that is stagnant, Dyami Brown could see a bigger role going forward.
He was shut out on this two targets in the Commanders’ first game of the season, but he saw 6 targets for 4 catches and 21 yards as Washington played in comeback mode in their road loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
His upside is currently limited with Terry McLaurin and Stefon Diggs doing the heavy lifting in the receiving game in the first two games.
Rookie Antonio Williams has a role in the offense as well, but until the Commanders can find a reliable tight end, all four of the WRs should be involved in the game plan.
