Week 7 Defensive Streamers: Jets get top nod with a home game vs. Dolphins

Week 7 Defensive streamers 2

Defensive streamers can be a bane on most fantasy managers.

The pick-up can be the right call based on the stats heading into the game, but that’s why they played the games.

The Indianapolis Colts were one of my suggestions last week and they eventually lost to the winless Tennessee Titans and their pedestrian offense. Oh the NFL!

Let’s get into the Week 7 plays!

Defensive Streamers

New York Jets (home against Miami, 14 percent on Yahoo!, 8 percent on Sleeper)

This week we get back to our favorite team to target a defensive streamer against.

The Miami Dolphins travel to New York City to the face the Jets in an AFC East Division matchup.

The Dolphins enter the game as one of two winless teams in the league and face a Jets defense that is a different monster at home.

The Jets defense have given up 308.0 yards a game (11th in the NFL) this season but have only given up 198.5 yards a game in their home games. Their home game stats would rank first in the NFL.

New York’s pass defense is 4th overall at 185.0 yards a game as the Dolphins bring in the league’s 31st pass offense at 153.6 yards a game.

The Jets are a 4.5-point favorite.

Cleveland (at Tennessee, 20 percent on Yahoo!, 17 percent on Sleeper)

The Cleveland Browns enter Week 7 as the leader in the balanced AFC North Division and face Tennessee Titans team off their first win of the season.

The Titans might have picked up that first win, but they are still a bad offensive team.

Despite the win, Tennessee has the worst offense in the league. The Titans only average 236.3 yards a game and are slightly worse at home with only 224.3 yards of offense.

The Browns bring their 13th ranked defense into the contest as they allow only 317.5 yards a game. But it is Cleveland’s pass defense that stands out as the Browns give up an 8th-best 205.2 yard a game with a slightly better mark on the road at 184.0 yards a game.

It may come down if the Tennessee offensive line can prove it has improved its pass blocking this season.  The Titans are only allowing 1.7 sacks this season after quarterback Cam Ward was sacked 55 times last season.

The Browns have averaged 3.2 sacks a game this season.

Cleveland enters the game as a 1.5-point favorite.

Chicago (home against New England, 23 percent on Yahoo!, 20 percent Sleeper)

Yes I know the New England Patriots have won three straight games, and quarterback Drake Maye is playing at the level of last year’s Super Bowl run, but the Chicago Bears, just like the Jets, are a different beast at home defensively.

The Bears are a Top 10 defensive unit for yards allowed overall, giving up only 302.3 yards a game (7th). At home the same defensive unit only allows 217.0 yards a game, second behind the Jets.

Sometimes, these types of numbers are just the schedule matchups at home vs. away, but the Bears were about 20 yards better defensively at home last year during Ben Johnson’s first year as the head coach.

If you are desperate for a defense this week, the Bears could be a flyer on your radar.

Chicago is a 3-point favorite.
