Week 5 brings a high-impact slate full of major lineup adjustments, international travel implications, and late-game availability questions. With multiple star contributors ruled out, several backup options stepping into featured roles, and key pass-catchers operating as game-time decisions, fantasy managers must navigate several critical player statuses before setting their rosters.
Players Ruled Out for Week 5
The Ravens will be without Lamar Jackson after the two-time MVP suffered an ankle injury last week that is set to keep him out of action. Tyler Huntley steps under center as a viable superflex play, while standard league managers in need of a quarterback should consider streaming options such as Jameis Winston or Aaron Rodgers.
The Eagles face a severely depleted offense for their London matchup against Jacksonville. Saquon Barkley exited last week’s contest with a hamstring injury and has been ruled out, while Tank Bigsby landed on injured reserve. This leaves Will Shipley as Philadelphia’s lead back, though he remains a risky fantasy option against a Jaguars defense that has surrendered the fewest rushing yards per game to opposing tailbacks. DeVonta Smith has also been ruled out with a hamstring issue, leaving Dontayvion Wicks and Makai Lemon as the primary wideouts in an offense that is also dealing with key injuries along the offensive line.
In Washington, Stefon Diggs failed to practice all week due to a hamstring strain and will not play. His absence opens up target volume for Antonio Williams as a sleeper flex option, while Chig Okonkwo offers streaming appeal at tight end.
Elsewhere around the league, Michael Pittman Jr. aggravated a foot injury and will miss multiple weeks, elevating Roman Wilson into a larger role for the Steelers. Kyle Monangai is sidelined with turf toe and could miss multiple games for the Bears, locking D’Andre Swift into an expanded workload as a volume-driven RB1. Quentin Johnston is out for the Chargers, and with offensive line injuries mounting in Los Angeles, their overall passing attack carries significant risk. Finally, Mack Hollins was ruled out for the Patriots due to a calf injury, boosting the target projection for Romeo Doubs.
Quarterbacks and Running Backs Heading Into Week 5
Jayden Daniels practiced while wearing a brace on his left elbow and is clear to play against the Giants. Despite the health concern, his dual-threat ceiling keeps him locked in as a top-five quarterback option.
Rhamondre Stevenson logged limited practice sessions, confirmed he feels ready to go, and is listed as questionable for the Patriots. If active, he will split work with TreVeyon Henderson, placing both in the flex conversation.
Ashton Jeanty popped up on the Raiders’ injury report on Thursday and missed Friday’s session, making him questionable with an ankle and foot issue. If Jeanty is forced to sit, Mike Washington Jr. steps into the starting role as a high-upside play.
Cam Skattebo wore a non-contact jersey earlier in the week for the Giants but is expected to play without a game designation, maintaining his status as a high-volume RB2. Alvin Kamara carries a questionable tag for the Saints despite practicing and remains set to lead New Orleans as an RB3 or flex choice.
The Commanders expect both Jacory Croskey-Merritt and Rachaad White to suit up against New York. Croskey-Merritt offers strong flex potential in a favorable matchup, while White’s return creates a shared backfield workload. For the Steelers, Rico Dowdle is questionable due to a toe injury, but Jaylen Warren is expected to remain the primary lead back in Pittsburgh.
Wide Receivers and Tight Ends to Monitor for Week 5
Ja’Marr Chase progressed through practice protocol this week and holds a real chance to play on Sunday. If Chase is cleared, he is a mandatory fantasy start, whereas a sitting designation would elevate target opportunities for Dohnte Meyers and Mitchell Tinsley. His teammate Tee Higgins returned to a full practice on Friday and is officially listed as questionable, requiring fantasy managers to keep alternative options ready.
Both primary wideouts for the Vikings carry questionable designations for Sunday. Justin Jefferson indicated he plans to play through his ankle injury, while Jordan Addison returned to practice following a hamstring issue. If Jefferson were to unexpectedly sit, Addison would jump into top-20 wide receiver status.
Terry McLaurin logged a limited practice on Friday and is expected to suit up for the Commanders, though his lingering hamstring concern lowers his outlook to a flex option.
At tight end, Dallas Goedert returned to practice in a limited capacity and will play against the Jaguars in London, positioning him as Jalen Hurts’ top target in the red zone. Isaiah Likely carries no injury designation into Week 5 for the Giants and remains a strong starting option against a Washington defense that has allowed high passing touchdown volume.
In Tennessee, Carnell Tate cleared his midweek back injury scare and will play against a Houston defense that heavily utilizes zone coverage. On the West Coast, Ladd McConkey did not practice this week for the Chargers and sits on the wrong side of questionable heading into Sunday.
Zay Flowers is listed as questionable for the Ravens after limited practices, remaining a WR3 or flex option with Tyler Huntley starting at quarterback. Finally, DJ Moore is listed as questionable for Monday Night Football due to a shoulder issue, making an insurance option like Keon Coleman necessary for managers holding him in starting lineups.
