Week 6 Waiver Wire Stashes: Overlooked Spears has potential to be a surprise pickup

Week 6 Waiver Wire Stashes 2

Sometimes we can be blinded by what is true waiver wire add that is needed for the week or stashes that could be used later in the season (or in leagues with deep rosters).

Any sometimes stashes can play a key role out of the blue like Pittsburgh’s Roman Wilson did two weeks ago. He had a chance to shine again last week but a finger injury put Germie Bernard in the spotlight.

These players are the ones I love to take a flyer on and hold onto to see what blossoms.

Let’s get into the Week 6 Stashes!

Waiver Wire Stashes

Tyjae Spears, Tennessee (22 percent on Yahoo!, 29 percent on Sleeper)

Tyjae Spears appears to be overlooked for the first wave of waiver wire pick-ups this week, and it’s understandable.

He plays on the worst offense in the NFL, yardage-wise, as the Titans only average 246.4 yards a game this season.

But the byes are coming up, and Spears finally played more snaps (54 percent to 48) than Tony Pollard, who has been handling a foot/ankle injury during the practice the last three weeks. Managers might need to fill a flex spot in deeper starting lineup leagues.

And Spears plays in the role where your flex position can pick up points quickly.

He only plays a part-time role in the backfield but he is the Titans’ third most targeted player at 11.2 percent (16 targets).

The Titans travel to Indianapolis this week and the Colts have given up the most receiving yards to running backs this season at 264 yards on 22 catches.

Jaydon Blue, Philadelphia (1 percent on Yahoo!, 3 percent on Sleeper)

I’m taking a swing with Jaydon Blue but hear me out.

Saquon Barkley has the “hopeful” tag from coach Nick Sirianni to return from a hamstring injury, and Dameon Pierce is not the guy.

Pierce played 77 percent of the snaps last week after Will Shipley went down with a partial tear of his plantar fascia during the Eagles’ loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in London.

And what did Pierce do with that high snap share: He had a combined 12 yards on 13 touches.

At least Blue produced when he was given chance to start in the Dallas Cowboys’ last game last season. Blue rushed for 64 yards on 16 carries and a touchdown despite playing only 60 percent of the snaps and not playing in most of the second half.

Isaiah Bond, Cleveland (0.1 percent on Yahoo!, 0.1 percent on Sleeper)
Jaleel McLaughlin, Cleveland (0.1 percent on Yahoo!, 0.1 percent on Sleeper)

Trade rumors and running back injuries may give Isaiah Bond and Jaleel McLaughlin some playing time.

The Browns are reportedly shopping wide receiver Jerry Jeudy and KC Concepcion is in concussion protocol this week.

Bond made the most of his playing time in the Browns’ loss to the New York Jets in Week 5. He played 72 percent of the snaps and had 3 catches on 7 targets for 74 yards.

The Browns’ running back depth chart took a hit when backup Raheim Sanders was placed on IR with a hip injury and starter Quinshon Junkins is nursing an ankle injury.

McLaughlin is next running back up to take some touches in Cleveland’s backfield. And he has shown some flashes when he played in Denver his first three years in the league.
