All of the takes from last week didn’t happen but could’ve been close, while others fell flat in spectacular fashion.
Lamar Jackson delivered the elite ceiling we anticipated but only finished as a QB7; Tetairoa McMillan looked outshone by Jalen Coker as the top fantasy receiver, who had the 30+ bomb. Juwan Johnson’s 4th-and-overtime performance carried his fantasy numbers. But he was not a top tight end, finishing as the 11th best in PPR.
On the other hand, Bucky Irving finished as the 18th-best back, but better games could be ahead; the Colts defense held up better than expected due to the Zay Flowers and Ja’Kobi Lane injuries, and the Saints–Lions volume didn’t funnel through the tight ends.
That’s Week 1 in a nutshell: unpredictable, volatile, and full of misleading signals.

Minnesota’s offensive line looked solid, and the Bears’ pass rush didn’t generate consistent pressure.
With a likely competitive game script and a dome environment, Wentz can push 35+ attempts. Add his sneaky rushing floor, and suddenly Top‑15 isn’t crazy.

Dallas is a tough defense, but their weakness is clear: they can be run on between the tackles. Croskey‑Merritt already earned early‑down work and red‑zone touches in Week 1, and he looked like the most decisive back on the roster.
Washington will need to slow the game down to keep Dallas’ offense off the field. That means volume, and volume means opportunity. If Croskey‑Merritt gets 14–16 touches, he’s one touchdown away from cracking the Top‑20 and strengthening his grip on the RB1 role.
Why it’s hot: RB29 is buried. Why it can hit: High‑value touches + game‑control strategy.
HOT TAKE #3: Parker Washington, Top 10 WR

Denver’s defense is elite on the perimeter but soft in the slot (last game vs. Denver, Washington went off with a career day). That’s where Parker Washington lives. Washington’s ability to separate underneath and create YAC makes him the perfect counterpunch to Denver’s outside coverage.
