Week 7 Hot Takes: Kraft, 20+ Point Week?

The Week 6 slate was another fast-paced chapter in this fantasy season, but before we dive headfirst into Week 7, let’s take a quick look back at our Week 6 Hot Takes.

We ended up going 2-for-4 on our bold calls for Week 6! We nailed C.J. Stroud going off, he exploded for 312 passing yards and 3 touchdowns (24.0 fantasy points) to finish as a top-3 QB on the week and earn AFC Offensive Player of the Week honors.

We also hit our fade on Chuba Hubbard dead-on; even with a massive 28-carry workload against a stout defense, he was held to 120 rushing yards and 1 touchdown with minimal passing work, finishing right under our 20-point threshold at 19.1 fantasy points.

Walker and Henry didn’t hit our exact predictions, but calling two massive hits gives us huge momentum turning the page. Fantasy football waits for no one, so it’s time to put our necks back on the line with four high-stakes, bold predictions for Week 7 to help you set winning lineups or spot landmines before kickoff.

Hot Take #1: Jared Goff Lights Up the Packers for 30+ Fantasy Points

Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions head into a massive NFC North rivalry game as they host the Green Bay Packers in Week 7, and all signs point to an absolute shootout with deep-ball fireworks.

Green Bay’s defense has shown vulnerability against quick-rhythm, high-volume passing attacks when QBs operate from clean pockets. With the Packers defense forced to commit extra safety help to respect Detroit’s dynamic ground attack and Amon-Ra St. Brown underneath, look for Detroit to unleash Jameson Williams on deep play-action shots.

Williams’ game-breaking speed will blow the top off Green Bay’s secondary for 100+ yards and multiple long touchdowns, acting as the primary catalyst for Goff to push past 300 passing yards and 4 total scores. Expect both Goff (30+ points) and Jamo to deliver slate-winning upside in a high-scoring divisional thriller.

Hot Take #2: Jonathan Taylor Held Under 10 Fantasy Points

Jonathan Taylor is universally viewed as an auto-start RB1 whenever healthy, but as the Indianapolis Colts travel to take on the Minnesota Vikings in Week 7, Taylor faces a brutal matchup script that could cap his fantasy production significantly.

The Vikings’ front seven continues to rank among the top run-stopping units in the league, suffocating downhill zone schemes and limiting yards after contact. To make matters worse, if Minnesota jumps out to an early lead, Shane Steichen and the Colts will be forced to abandon the ground game in favor of pass-heavy scripts.

Between limited goal-line opportunities and a suffocating matchup up front, Taylor will struggle to find running room and fail to cross even 10 fantasy points, making him a high-risk play with a dangerously low floor this week.

Hot Take #3: Ja’Marr Chase Finishes as the Overall WR1 in PPR vs. Ravens

Ja’Marr Chase has been on an absolute tear, and his Week 7 divisional battle against the Baltimore Ravens sets up as a masterclass performance. Historically, this should be a shootout and should be a great spot for Chase to have his first 30+ point week this year.

TrophySmack - Gear Up Your League

While Baltimore carries a formidable reputation, their secondary has given up substantial chunk plays to top-tier perimeter receivers this season. Joe Burrow is locked in, and the Bengals’ scheme continues to feed Chase massive target volume both on deep isolation routes and schemed touches near the line of scrimmage.

Expect Chase to haul in 10+ catches for well over 120 yards and multiple touchdowns, claiming the overall WR1 crown in PPR leagues for Week 7.

Hot Take #4: Tucker Kraft Finishes as a Top Tight End in PPR vs. Lions

Tight end has been a volatile position for fantasy managers, but Green Bay’s Tucker Kraft has emerged as a dynamic playmaker in the Packers’ passing attack as they prepare to face the Detroit Lions.

In this high-flying divisional matchup in Detroit, Green Bay will need high-efficiency intermediate targets to exploit linebackers and safeties dropping back to protect against deep shots downfield.

Kraft has established himself as a primary target in high-leverage areas, commanding high-value red-zone looks and generating substantial yardage after the catch. Expect 6+ receptions, 70+ yards, and a trip into the end zone, easily launching Kraft into top-3 TE territory in PPR scoring for Week 7.
