5 1/2 BEST LANDING SPOTS FOR DAVANTE ADAMS (FANTASY)

Davante Adams has had a wild latter part of his career since leaving Green Bay on St. Patrick’s Day in 2022. Many thought his luck would turn after leaving the back-to-back MVP with Aaron Rodgers. Adams put up nearly 3,000 yards and 29 touchdowns in the previous 2 seasons. Brain Guntekunst thought he would sell high after the remarkable 2020 and 2021 campaigns, dealing him to the Las Vegas Raiders.

Adams had a remarkable 2022, matching his average touchdowns and receiving yards in that 2022 campaign. Fantasy managers anticipated more of this success in the coming years, but after poor quarterback play in Las Vegas and Father Time, giving the ‘inevitable’ Thanos treatment, it seemed the elite years of his career were over. That is until he teamed back up with the man who was his quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, for the first eight years of his career. The Raiders traded him to the Jets in Week 6 after Adams had requested a trade weeks prior.

Davante Adams’ Jets tenure was rocky, with only 278 yards and one touchdown in the first 5 weeks. But in the next 6 weeks, the Rodgers-Adams connection seemed to pick up where they left off in 2021. Rodgers was cut by the Jets on Tuesday, March 4, after being unable to find a trade partner. Rodgers had also been told he would be cut in early February. It seems the two may be destined to run together a 3rd time for a 3rd different franchise. In this article, I will lay out five (and a half) teams that Adams could go to and be successful in fantasy football for Adams’ age 33 season in 2025.

Davante Adams Top Landing Spots

THE HALF

The half and easy answer to this Davante Adams question would be anywhere Aaron Rodgers goes. For reasons laid out previously, Adams and Rodgers are a perfect couple. Rodgers targeted Adams nearly 10.5 times per game last season. This would rank him tied with Ja’Marr Chase in the 2024 season, the WR1 in fantasy last year. Yes, age is a factor for both Adams and Rodgers, but their chemistry could be the panacea.

1. GREEN BAY PACKERS

The Green Bay Packers drafted Adams in 2014 out of Fresno State. He thrived there, starting in year 4, all the way until he left after the 2021 season. With a 3rd year starter in Jordan Love looking for answers to the often injured wide receiver room, Adams could be the fix. Josh Jacobs, the Packers’ prized 2024 offseason piece, said in an interview on NBC at the Super Bowl, that the Packers need a “proven” alpha receiver. Adams, 32, may be past his prime, but could be the answer to their spotty wide receiver room. DK Metcalf has also been speculated to Green Bay, which could throw a wrench in Adams’ reunion.

2. CAROLINA PANTHERS

The Carolina Panthers had a tumultuous 2023 after selecting Bryce Young first overall in the 2023 NFL Draft. To make matters worse, they traded a King’s ransom to the Chicago Bears to get, what possibly was not even the best quarterback in the draft. C.J. Stroud made sure of it in his first two seasons in the NFL, at least for now.

The 2024 season was positive for the club, after another rough start that featured a benching of Bryce Young, and ‘The Red Rifle’ Andy Dalton manning the quarterback duties. Bryce Young played to the level of a potential starting quarterback in the NFL. Chuba Hubbard was the main weapon for the Panthers’ offense, rushing for 1,195 yards and 10 touchdowns. Their wide receiver room is comprised of a visibly aging Adam Thielen (34), and two rookie wide receivers Xavier Legette and Jalen Coker. While the two have shown some promise, a veteran who can still put up elite numbers like Davante Adams could serve Bryce Young well. Although unlikely to sign there, Adams’ fantasy numbers could thrive in Carolina. He would be the clear number-one option on an offense that lacks a presence that he could provide.

3. BUFFALO BILLS

The Buffalo Bills have had a similar story to the end of their season, losing to the Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs, which they have done four out of the last five seasons. The only change this year, is that their franchise quarterback, Josh Allen, finally won the NFL MVP award in a controversial decision over Lamar Jackson. Controversy or not, Allen was fantastic in 2024. He was the QB2 overall, totaling 40 touchdowns combined and over 3,700 passing yards. This all happened after the departure of Stefon Diggs last off-season.

The one thing missing for Allen and the potent Bills offense was a true WR1. Khalil Shakir was a nice option for Allen, having 821 receiving yards on 76 receptions and 4 touchdowns. The Bills also have a young receiver out of Florida State in Keon Coleman who showed promise but had a rather quiet rookie campaign. The Bills were rumored to be in on Adams before he was offloaded to the Jets last season. Adams would thrive in that Bills offense being a main target and a true number one. I could see Adams signing on a short-term deal to ride out his career in Buffalo. This potentially puts them over the Kansas City hump, more importantly (for fantasy) being Josh Allen’s number one option.

RODGERS’ TEAMS

In this next section of teams, I can only see Davante Adams going to if he follows Aaron Rodgers.

4. NEW ORLEANS SAINTS

The 2024 New Orleans Saints looked like a wagon after defeating the Dallas Cowboys and Carolina Panthers in a combined score of 91 to 29. The wheels fell off of that wagon in those consequent weeks, losing their next seven games. The Saints fired their head coach and had injuries to Derek Carr and Chris Olave, which is a recipe for disaster. The Saints, like Buffalo, were also rumored to be in on the Davante Adams Sweepstakes and were close but no Cigar! Aaron Rodgers has also been rumored to head to New Orleans. While this would keep the Saints from the ultimate tank, which many experts believe they should remove themselves from NFL cap hell, it would keep Davante Adams fantasy relevant. No need to worry about 4th-year stud Chris Olave. We saw what Rodgers would do to a young receiver when Adams was in the room. Olave has not exhibited ‘alpha’ tendencies. While Adams going to New Orleans is not the first choice for his fantasy status, it is a good option with the accompaniment of Rodgers.

5. NEW YORK GIANTS

The New York Giants have been a disaster for over a decade, with one anomaly season in 2022. They are in desperate need of a culture change. They lost out on the number one overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft after beating the Indianapolis Colts in Week 17, in an offensive outburst by Malik Nabers in the fantasy championship. Rumor has it they may be in on Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward this year at pick number three. On the completely other end of the spectrum, they are also rumored to be in on Aaron Rodgers if the rookie QB plan does not work out. Adams going to New York could be one of the most interesting locations of all. Nabers put up a historic season, temporarily breaking the rookie receptions record in just 15 games, with possibly the worst quarterback play in the league. As previously mentioned, we’ve seen Rodgers ignore the young receiver in the past in favor of Adams, but could Nabers be where the buck stops? Adams would be a great fit opposite of Nabers, but would he be downgraded to a number two? The Giants, give me the most pause.

TEAMS CONSIDERED BUT DID NOT MAKE THE LIST

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS

There were a few teams that I considered for Adams, but I had a hard time seeing them making a real impact in fantasy football next season. The Kansas City Chiefs were the first to come to mind. While he would be a great fit from an NFL standpoint and aid the Chiefs offense in situational downs. I do not think he would be able to stand out with Rashee Rice coming back and the speedster Xavier Worthy emerging.

JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS

The next team would be the Jacksonville Jaguars. Liam Coen became the next head coach of the franchise last month. He aided Baker Mayfield in becoming a true star in the last two years in Tampa Bay. Baker supported both Chris Godwin and Mike Evans for the past two years, even though in 2024 the injury bug plagued them both. Jacksonville had a stud emerge in their first-round draft pick at the wide receiver position, in Brian Thomas Jr. He looks like a true number one for years to come, and Trevor Lawrence still needs to prove he can support multiple wide receivers, even with Liam Cohen’s help. Christian Kirk was released on Wednesday, March 5, leaving an open spot and 10.4 million dollars less on their cap. This makes me think it is more of a possibility for Adams to be fantasy-relevant, but still not enough to make the list.

BALTIMORE RAVENS

The last team to enter consideration would be the Baltimore Ravens. Baltimore was also in on the Adams’ sweepstakes last season. Baltimore had Rashod Bateman become more of a factor than he ever had last season. Zay Flowers also made a big jump, obtaining his first-ever 1,000-yard season, though not look like a true alpha. In addition to the two wide receivers, the Ravens have an All-Pro future Hall of Famer that they enjoy leaning on in Derrick Henry and their two weapons at tight end. The Ravens have a crowded offense and it seems as though they are comfortable rolling the ball out there. The Ravens did not make the list because, although Adams would complete this team, they honestly do not seem too interested in getting an alpha receiver. The other reason would be that the Ravens’ passing game does not look like an environment where two wide receivers would thrive, due to their heavy run game. It does not seem like Baltimore would be the Best place for Adams.

ADAMS

Davante Adams looks like he has a couple more 1,000-yard seasons left. The question is where will he spend them. The hope for all of us fantasy football players out there would be that he is in an environment where he is worthy of a top-three-round fantasy draft choice. We will see in the coming weeks if that will come true.
