NFL Week 10 Must Sit: Avoid Jets Firesale, Bears Using Youth Over Veterans

Welcome to NFL Week 10 Must Sit. It’s Week 10, and you know what that means… bye weeks and injuries making your start or sit decisions all the more difficult. I am going to give you some names that will definitely be of help to you if you can afford to sit them. The Dallas Cowboys, Tennessee Titans, Cincinnati Bengals, and Kansas City Chiefs are all on bye heading into this week, so it will be tough. However, these teams are the ones that I am worried about heading into this week.

Breece Hall

Breece Hall has had a good season for the New York Jets, considering their incredibly difficult season to this point. Hall is lining up against the Cleveland Browns and their difficult defensive line this week. After the Jets just had a defensive fire sale this week, we have no clue what we are going to see out of them this week. Breece Hall has had immense upside all season, showcasing that in his most recent game before the bye against the Cincinnati Bengals, posting 31.9 fantasy points. This was easily his best game of the year. Hall has had difficulty against even middle-of-the-pack defenses. Only scored over 10 fantasy points in half of his games. This is the most challenging defense he has faced so far, and it could be one of those bust weeks for the Jets’ workhorse. Of course, he always has pass-catching upside, but I cannot trust that either. Sit Hall this week because it’s the Jets… and we have no idea what we are getting.

Kimani Vidal

Kimani Vidal has largely been an exciting player this year since the Omarion Hampton injury, but he boasts similar problems to Breece Hall, where he is hot and cold. Last week against the Titans, he struggled to get anything going. This is surprising considering the lack of good play from the Titans all year. He posted just 30 yards on the ground and nothing through the air on just one opportunity. This was not a situation where he was game-scripted out, either, although the Titans put up a fight in the first half. Jarret Patterson was more efficient and got things going for the Chargers as well last week, but I do not anticipate that to continue as much. He may get more of the workload than we originally thought, but not enough to sit.

The main reason to sit Vidal this week is another tough matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers’ defense is not exactly the classic Steelers defense that we all know, but it is tough enough, and they found their stride last week against the Indianapolis Colts. If you can sit the Chargers RB3 in a starting spot because of the instability on the Chargers’ offensive line. With Joe Alt being ruled out for the year, we have to see how they can hold up, and that is not a promising hope.

Garrett Wilson

Garrett Wilson has missed the last two games for the Jets and finds himself clueless about where he fits in the Jets’ rebuild. Quarterback Justin Fields has been able to get him the ball so far this season, but this is not a promising matchup. The Browns’ secondary has been tough to throw on if their offense can keep them in the game, and without Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams, this is sure to be an easier task for Dillon Gabriel than it was just five days ago. Wilson will also most likely be on a pitch count since he was limited all week in practice. With all of the uncertainty, sit Garrett Wilson this week.

DJ Moore

DJ Moore is another player coming off his best game of the season. Before his week 9 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals, he had not ranked inside the top 28 receivers once this season. He has not been a valuable asset to Caleb Williams in the passing game for 2 seasons now. Rome Odunze seems to be the target there for Williams. Odunze had zero catches last week in their high-scoring matchup; his father was vocal about the displeasure from the Odunze family. Even though Odunze has refused to share the sentiments, there will be pressure to get him the ball this week, taking more opportunities away from DJ Moore. Sit him this week against the Giants.

D’Andre Swift

Well… I have been saying it for weeks. Sell D’Andre Swift because Kyle Monangai has been waiting in the wings for a while. Hopefully, you were not one of the people to buy him. Swift was injured last week when Monangai went for almost 200 scrimmage yards. This is not a breakout that you can take lightly. Even though it was against the Bengals, it was still a very impressive game. Monangai may be featured in a Sonic & Knuckles type (Jahmyr Gibbs & David Montgomery) of roll, as they look to, as Ben Johnson likes to utilize multiple backs. Swift may have an uncertain role this week, as well as Monangai; sitting both will likely be your best bet. The industry of fantasy football tends to get excited about young players taking over an older player’s role, and this is another case, but the accuracy on this is about 50/50. Let’s see what shakes out in the coming days, before we start either one. This could be a Rico Dowdle-type takeover in Chicago. When the other back is undeniable, it is hard to go back.
