It was a bad week for the DFS Plays during Week 2, but this is the beauty of playing DFS – those bad plays will not be carried over into Week 3.
The weather got the best of my stack of Minnesota’s Carson Wentz and Justin Jefferson despite teasing us for a 30-yard play on the first drive of the game.
Of course my best lineup of the week was one of my chalkiest lines led by Dallas’ Dak Prescott (29.76 points) and CeeDee Lamb (38.30 points) and Baltimore’s Derrick Henry (17.70 points). Those three players were a combined 70 roster percentage.
Let’s get into this week’s top plays!
QB DFS Plays
Geno Smith, NY Jets ($4,900, 2.2 percent rostered)
What more can we ask for Geno Smith and the rest of the Jets offense?
The game is in a dome at Detroit (no Nor’easter to worry about).
The total has already jumped three points to 48.5, and the Jets are 6.5-point underdogs which means they should be chasing points.
And the Lions are the worst team in the NFL giving up DraftKings’ points to the quarterback. Detroit has allowed 35.0 DK points to QBs this season.
Now Geno is no Josh Allen, but he did throw the ball 41 times in last week’s OT loss to the Green Bay Packers. And with his price tag, a 20-point day would be great with the rest of your build.
Chalky play: Lamar Jackson, Baltimore ($7,500, 13 percent rostered)
Cheap play: Jameis Winston, New York Giants ($4,000, 4.8 percent rostered)
RB DFS Plays
Jahmyr Gibbs, Detroit ($8,800, 32.5 percent rostered)
I know this week’s lineup is going to be chalky as I’ll need to find some value in my other spots, but I just can’t ignore Jahmyr Gibbs in this scoring environment.
Gibbs has averaged an amazing 30.5 DK points through the first two games and I doubt the Jets run defense is as good as it appears.
The Jets limited the Tennessee Titans and the Green Bay Packers running back rooms to only 12.6 DK points.
Gibbs is head and shoulders above both those RB rooms, but he will have to score 26.4 points or more to receive a fire emoji.
Chalky play: Kenneth Walker III, Kansas City ($7,400, 62.5 percent rostered)
Cheap play: Quinshon Junkins, Cleveland ($5,500, 2.4 percent rostered)
WR DFS Plays
Garrett Wilson, New York Jets ($6,300, 5.6 percent rostered)
You know me I loved to stack my DFS QB with one of his receivers and I’m not stopping that trend yet.
Garrett Wilson, despite being out targeted by Adonai Mitchell, is still the de factor WR1 for Smith.
Wilson has averaged 15.3 DK points a game on 7 targets a game, but I see him getting more targets this week as the Jets are expected to be trailing a good portion of the game.
Plus, the Lions give up 44.5 DK points to WRs so there is plenty of scoring to go around for both Garrett and Mitchell.
Chalky play: Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Seattle ($8,600, 27.4 percent rostered)
Cheap play: Xavier Hutchinson, Houston ($4,000, 0.2 percent rostered)
TE DFS Plays
Dalton Schultz, Houston ($4,200, 4.9 percent rostered)
Nico Collins is out again so it’s time to fire up Dalton Schultz again.
He was my top DFS TE plays last week but I limited him to only two lineups because of his rostered numbers.
I’m ignoring any high rostered numbers this week as the Texans head to face the Indianapolis Colts’ secondary that has allowed 20.4 DK points to TEs this season.
Fire up Schultz no matter what!
Chalky play: Sam Laporta, Detroit ($4,300, 10.9 percent rostered)
Cheap play: T.J. Hockenson, Minnesota ($3,200, 8.6 percent rostered)
DST DFS Plays
Cincinnati ($2,900, 3.4 percent rostered) at Pittsburgh
Minnesota ($3,100, 4.9 percent rostered) at Tampa Bay
Jacksonville ($2,900, 3.7 percent rostered) home against New England
